People who do not engage in safe social drinking can quickly become a threat to everyone on the road. There are limits to responsible alcohol consumption and laws in place to regulate the amount of alcohol an individual can drink before driving. When these regulations are disregarded, the consequences and legal penalties can be severe. Drunk driving compromises the safety of not only the driver, but also any innocent people who are nearby.

The consumption of alcohol slows a person’s reaction time and impairs their judgment in many ways. Because an intoxicated driver’s decision-making may be affected, they are more likely to:

  • Disregard traffic laws
  • Lose control of their vehicles and swerve in an out of lanes
  • Incorrectly judge distances and speeds
  • Fall asleep at the wheel
  • Ignore warning signs
  • Fail to see other vehicles or pedestrians

Drunk driving is an extremely hazardous activity, and because the risks are so high, it also incurs serious penalties. If a person is caught operating a vehicle while intoxicated they may be facing jail time, fines, a revoked license, and alcohol awareness courses or treatment. An individual that harms another person while drunk driving can he held responsible for their injuries and the costs of their medical expenses.

Social drinking can be an enjoyable part of an evening out with family or friends, but without setting boundaries, adhering to legal restrictions, and understanding your own limits, a person can become a serious threat to themselves and others. As such, if you have been injured by an intoxicated driver, it is important that you hold the responsible party accountable for the damage they have done.

  1. Thanks for your posting. One other thing is the fact individual states have their own laws of which affect home owners, which makes it very difficult for the our elected representatives to come up with a new set of recommendations concerning property foreclosures on householders. The problem is that a state has got own laws which may have interaction in a damaging manner when it comes to foreclosure plans.
